The formula we use to calculate your business’ monthly bill consists of a few basic charges. Take a look at the chart below to see how it breaks down.
This rate is available to all commercial and industrial consumers and other consumers whose peak demand is consistently less than 50 kilowatts (kW) per billing cycle.
The cost Bluebonnet has to pay its power providers for generating and delivering electricity to its electric substations (Wholesale Power Cost) plus a possible adjustment based on fluctuations in generating costs (Power Cost Recovery Factor).
Wholesale Power Charge rate = $0.058936 per kWh
Power Cost Recovery Factor (PCRF) rate = -$0.006 (Variable)
The cost of delivering electricity to each member's business. The service is provided as either Single- or Three-Phase. Most commercial buildings are wired with Three-Phase, which provides more power.
Single-Phase Rate = $0.037214 per kWh
Three-Phase Rate = $0.039114 per kWh
The monthly expense for each meter, including meter reading, billing and payment processing. The service is provided as either Single- or Three-Phase.
Single-Phase Rate = $30.00 per month
Three-Phase Rate = $50.00 per month
Total of wholesale power, commercial service and service availability costs for billing period.
Bluebonnet members whose peak demand is consistently more than 50 kW and less than 250 kW in multiple billing cycles are charged the Large Power rate.
The cost of delivering electricity to each member's business.
Large Power Service Rate = $0.015091 per kWh
The monthly expense for each meter, including meter reading, billing and payment processing.
Service Availability charge = $75.00 per month
The cost to meet the member's power needs when the member's demand is at its highest.
Demand Charge = $5.00 per peak kW
Total of wholesale power, commercial service, service availability and demand charges for billing period.
These rates are available to all commercial and industrial consumers whose peak demand is consistently greater than 250 kW in multiple billing cycles.
Large Power Service Rate = $0.009578 per kWh
Service Availability charge = $150.00 per month
Demand Charge = $6.00 per peak kW

Ensuring our members are accurately billed for the energy they use is as important as providing safe, reliable electric service. Accurate bills start with the electric meter.
The meter reads then flows into Bluebonnet’s meter data management system that processes them, then sends them to our website, where our members can access their account information 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The data also goes to our billing system, which generates each members’ bill on a monthly basis.
Pay bills, track energy use and more, anytime you're online.
