Bluebonnet to upgrade power lines in northwest Lee County; members will experience temporary power outage

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative members in northwest Lee County, near the Bastrop County line will experience a temporary power outage Tuesday, March 31, as crews complete an upgrade to electric distribution lines. The upgrade will increase the voltage carried through the power lines and is needed to continue to reliably serve a growing number of members in the area.

The planned outage is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31, 9 to 10 a.m. It will affect about 50 Bluebonnet members on County Road 308, County Road 310, Country Road 311, Private Road 3081, Private Road 3082 and Highland View Drive.

Bluebonnet representatives have visited the businesses who will be affected by the planned outage. Bluebonnet will also call each residential member who will be affected by the outage to inform them of the exact time and date they will be without power.

Residents and motorists in the area should be aware of Bluebonnet’s crews and trucks and are urged to use caution when traveling on the affected streets.

“Safety is always our primary concern,” said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “We will have Bluebonnet employees and contractors, and about 15 trucks working to complete this conversion with as little impact on our members as possible. We take every precaution possible to make these jobs safe, and ask that residents in the area be extra cautious and aware of our crews.”
